Canon MX475 Ink Absorber Full Reset

Canon MX475 Service Required Error – Reset Solution

Canon MX475 Ink Absorber Full Reset

If your Canon MX475 suddenly refuses to print and shows a maintenance or service warning, the ink absorber counter may have reached its limit.

Ink absorber pads store waste ink during normal operation. Canon firmware tracks this using a software counter and may stop printing when it reaches the limit.

This page is prepared for Canon MX475. Service mode instructions are shown only when a matching series procedure is known.

Common Symptoms

  • ‘Ink Absorber Full’ / ‘Service Required’ message
  • Support/service code (varies by series)
  • Printing blocked after cleaning cycles
  • Reset required to continue printing

Clear the Ink Absorber / Waste Ink Counter

Once the counter is cleared, Canon MX475 should exit the locked state and printing should resume normally.

Before You Continue

Resetting the counter does not physically clean the absorber pads. For heavy usage, pads may eventually need cleaning or replacement.

Download & get started

If your model does not show a service mode section, it means no matching procedure was found for its series.

Troubleshooting

  • Close other Canon printer utilities while resetting.
  • Try a different USB cable/port if using PC software.
  • Repeat the service mode steps carefully (timing matters).
  • Power-cycle the printer and try again.
  • Use the correct Stop/Reset press count for your series.

FAQ

How many times should I press Stop/Reset?
It depends on the series. Many use 5 presses; PRO/imagePROGRAF/MG use 6 in this generator.
How long does it take?
Usually a few minutes once the correct steps are followed.
Does reset clean the absorber pads?
No. It resets the counter (software). Pads may still require physical maintenance in high-usage cases.
Does every Canon model need service mode?
No. The generator shows service mode steps only when the series procedure is known.
