Canon MG6660 Ink Absorber Full Reset
Canon MG6660 can lock printing when the waste ink (ink absorber) counter hits a predefined threshold. This guide explains how to reset it.
During head cleaning, surplus ink is routed to internal absorber pads. Canon MG6660 monitors this via a counter and can lock printing at a threshold.
This page is prepared for Canon MG6660. Service mode instructions are shown only when a matching series procedure is known.
What You May Notice

How to Enter Service Mode on Canon MG6660
Some Canon series require entering service mode before the ink absorber counter can be reset.
- Turn the printer OFF.
- Press and hold Stop/Reset.
- While holding Stop/Reset, press and hold Power.
- Release Stop/Reset (keep holding Power).
- Press Stop/Reset 6 times.
- Release Power — the printer should enter service mode.
If it doesn’t work, repeat the sequence carefully. The press count depends on the series.
Perform the Waste Ink Counter Reset
After service mode is enabled (if required), the waste ink counter can be reset using a supported reset procedure/software.
Warnings
Resetting the counter does not physically clean the absorber pads. For heavy usage, pads may eventually need cleaning or replacement.
