Canon iP4940 Ink Absorber Full Reset
When Canon iP4940 triggers an ink absorber full condition, the printer may block printing as a protective measure. The solution is typically a waste ink counter reset.
During head cleaning, surplus ink is routed to internal absorber pads. Canon iP4940 monitors this via a counter and can lock printing at a threshold.
This page is prepared for Canon iP4940. Service mode instructions are shown only when a matching series procedure is known.
Common Symptoms
- ‘Ink Absorber Full’ / ‘Service Required’ message
- Support/service code (varies by series)
- Printing blocked after cleaning cycles
- Reset required to continue printing
Clear the Ink Absorber / Waste Ink Counter
Once the counter is cleared, Canon iP4940 should exit the locked state and printing should resume normally.
Warnings
Treat the reset as a maintenance step. If your printer has extremely high usage, consider cleaning/replacing absorber pads to avoid overflow.
