Canon IB4050 Ink Absorber Full Reset
If your Canon IB4050 suddenly refuses to print and shows a maintenance or service warning, the ink absorber counter may have reached its limit.
Ink absorber pads store waste ink during normal operation. Canon firmware tracks this using a software counter and may stop printing when it reaches the limit.
This page is prepared for Canon IB4050. Service mode instructions are shown only when a matching series procedure is known.
What You May Notice
- ‘Ink Absorber Full’ / ‘Service Required’ message
- Support/service code (varies by series)
- Printing blocked after cleaning cycles
- Reset required to continue printing
Finalize the Reset and Restore Printing
Completing the reset clears the internal ink absorber counter stored in printer memory and restores normal operation.
Before You Continue
Resetting the counter does not physically clean the absorber pads. For heavy usage, pads may eventually need cleaning or replacement.

If your model does not show a service mode section, it means no matching procedure was found for its series.
Troubleshooting
- Repeat the service mode steps carefully (timing matters).
- Try a different USB cable/port if using PC software.
- Close other Canon printer utilities while resetting.
- Use the correct Stop/Reset press count for your series.
