Canon TS704 Ink Absorber Full Reset

Canon TS704 Reset Ink Absorber – Complete Tutorial

Canon TS704 Ink Absorber Full Reset

Canon TS704 can lock printing when the waste ink (ink absorber) counter hits a predefined threshold. This guide explains how to reset it.

Inside Canon printers, absorber pads collect excess ink from cleaning and maintenance cycles. The printer uses an internal counter to estimate pad saturation.

This page is prepared for Canon TS704. Service mode instructions are shown only when a matching series procedure is known.

Common Symptoms

  • Service / maintenance warning on the screen or driver
  • Printer refuses to print even with ink available
  • Blinking lights and queued jobs fail
  • Error reappears after restart

How to Enter Service Mode on Canon TS704

If your Canon TS704 supports service mode reset, follow the steps below before performing the counter reset.

  1. Turn the printer OFF.
  2. Press and hold Stop/Reset.
  3. While holding Stop/Reset, press and hold Power.
  4. Release Stop/Reset (keep holding Power).
  5. Press Stop/Reset 5 times.
  6. Release Power — the printer should enter service mode.

If it doesn’t work, repeat the sequence carefully. The press count depends on the series.

Clear the Ink Absorber / Waste Ink Counter

After service mode is enabled (if required), the waste ink counter can be reset using a supported reset procedure/software.

Before You Continue

If absorber pads are truly saturated, ignoring maintenance can lead to ink leakage inside the printer. The counter reset only removes the software lock.

Reset tools and instructions

Use a reliable USB connection and follow the steps in order.

Common Fixes

  • Repeat the service mode steps carefully (timing matters).
  • Close other Canon printer utilities while resetting.
  • Try a different USB cable/port if using PC software.
  • Use the correct Stop/Reset press count for your series.
  • Power-cycle the printer and try again.

No. It resets the counter (software). Pads may still require physical maintenance in high-usage cases.
How long does it take?
Usually a few minutes once the correct steps are followed.
How many times should I press Stop/Reset?
It depends on the series. Many use 5 presses; PRO/imagePROGRAF/MG use 6 in this generator.
Does every Canon model need service mode?
No. The generator shows service mode steps only when the series procedure is known.
